For the next couple of blogs, I will write about a player on the Baltimore Orioles and whether or not I think they will be back next season. The first player I will do is Erik Bedard.
Erik Bedard, Starting Pitcher
Ahh, Erik Bedard. A possible CY Young candidate late last year before he got injured. He also led all of Major League Baseball in strikeouts before he was injured late last year. So, what are the odds of him still being an Oriole by the start of next season? I'm gonna say 50%. Why? Well, he was trade bait at the Winter Meetings in Nashville, but he still has yet to be traded. Keep in mind that he is signed through 2009. Yes, contract talks with him and his agent have stalled, but I don't see the Orioles giving him up unless they get a very good deal. Which, apparently still hasn't happened because he still plays for Baltimore. Or it could be the fact that the O's are asking too much... Either way, there's a 50-50 shot that Bedard will be a Baltimore Oriole next year. - John T.
