Orioles News - 9/18/07 - O's shutout by Yanks

The Baltimore Orioles were crushed last night, 12-0. The New York Yankees were victorious, with starter Mike Mussina mowing down the O's. Mussina allowed only 3 hits in 7 innings. Remind me again why we let this guy go... Orioles starter Jon Leicester wasn't nearly as good as Mussina, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits in 4 innings. Our bullpen then gave up 6 more runs in the 6th and 7th innings. This is the 3rd time this month that the O's have lost by 12 runs or more. And, this is the 3rd time this month that the Orioles have been shutout this month. That's sad. The Yankees had a 6 run 4th inning, but the O's could have escaped with minimum damage. There were 3 seperate times when a ball went off of or under an Orioles player's glove. These were not easy plays, but plays that should have been made. Orioles catcher Ramon Hernandez had 2 hits, and Miguel Tejada had 1, but other then that, the O's didn't have a basehit. Also, pitcher Daniel Cabrera dropped his appeal of a 6 game suspension for throwing at a batter. So, a terrible day for the O's as they managed just 3 hits. - John T.
