Orioles News - 9/23/07 - O's shutout

The Baltimore Orioles lost yesterday to the Texas Rangers, 3-0. The O's were blanked again. That's the 4th time this month that the O's have been shutout. The Orioles wasted a great pitching performance from Jon Leicester. Leicester went the whole game, allowing only 3 runs. But the Orioles didn't score, as they left 8 men on base. 6 of those men were left in scoring position. That's a shame. We finally get a good pitching performance, yet it's wasted as we can't score. Baltimore also hit into 3 double plays. Two of those double plays came with men in scoring position. The Rangers however, took advantage of their opportunities as they left only 1 man on base in scoring position. Texas scored twice in the 2nd inning, with a triple and a single that brought in runs. They also scored again in the 6th on 2 singles, a wild pitch that advanced the runners, and a groundout to bring in the game's final run. It was a great pitching performance by Jon Leicester but in the end, it doesn't matter if you can't score. - John T.
